The 41,000 sf addition to the historic McKinley County Courthouse houses the County administration, provides new courtrooms and offices for the District Court, and relieved overcrowding in the old courthouse. It was designed to be a modern complement to the existing historic building and connects to the existing building by a sky-bridge. The facility incorporates state-of-the-art technology including a specialized space that allows simultaneous interpretation of courtroom testimony via wireless, as well as whisper interpretation equipment.
The 30,000 sf renovation of the existing historic building upgraded utility systems and provided completely new mechanical and electrical systems. The building also received completely new finishes and existing spaces were designed to consolidate functions and improve efficiency.
